🦇 RARE BAT SCARES PEOPLE AT CAMBODJA, 2020

Cambodja. In April 2020, reports began to appear about the appearance of strange creatures resembling a hybrid of a rat, frog and bat in China or Indochina. The information was inaccurate.

Initial popular news speculated that these creatures could have been generated by hybridizing bat and frog DNA to create a mutant version and that they could have escaped from one of the secret laboratories maintained in the region by certain agencies that can't be nominated.

These creatures can glide through the air (which gave them their reputation for flying), crawl and swim, but what surprised everyone most was their humanoid appearance.

According to local media reports, government agents were undertaking extensive investigation into the incidents and captured specimens for study. As this happened in 2020, it is clear that these authorities let the matter die and the case was forgotten, as always happens when today's media reports "curiosities" irresponsibly.

The shame of researchers from government agencies and the media who publicized the fact is that they do not have basic academic knowledge of biology, are not able to research and do not identify the animals as "Colugos" or Colutidae, arboreal planing  mammals native to Southeast Asia, the region of called Indochina.

They are rare. There are only two living species of colugos: the Sunda flying lemur (Galeopterus variegatus) and the Philippine flying lemur (Cynocephalus volans).

Indochina is a region of Southeast Asia located between eastern India and southern China. Includes Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and sometimes Thailand and Myanmar. It depends on the map that is used.

In one of the videos used to spread the news, the speech of the people makes it clear that the incident recorded there took place somewhere in Cambodia since the language used in the comments is Khmer or Cambodian.

If there is anything unusual about this animal, besides its rarity, it is its presence in a backyard occupied by humans, far from natural shelter. A sign that it is lost or something has taken it away from its habitat.

Newspapers also reproduced the idea that the screaming morgego (yes, he screams like a demon hell) had escaped from a certain laboratory specializing in unorthodox experiments... and this occurred in the heaviest year of the covenon pandemonium.

This conjecture is not at all absurd. There is reliable news about the movements of mad scientists during this period:

The Pentagon reportedly controls biological weapons laboratories in about 25 different countries, including Ukraine. The rest are located in Georgia (the country), Iraq, Jordan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon, Senegal, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa and Ivory Coast. (HUFF, 2022).

The editors of this blog are prevented from going further in providing information about certain laboratories due to platform requirements. For a little more see the last link in SOURCES.

🦥 Rondonia Paleo-burrows - Brazil Video & Update

IN THIS VIDEO The Geologist Amilcar Adamy shows the interior of the place he calls "The mysterious cave.

The man who accompanies him in the video - identified only as Aristeu - is the owner of the land where the giant burrows were discovered.

The tunnels were known for some time but only this year (2015) the nature of the structure has been studied enough to confirm its origin and nature: these tunnels and caves were made by the claws of huge sloths - the Megatheriums - in Pleistocene, period when the planet was inhabited by a megafauna - giant animals.

The Megatherium, extinct about 10,000 years ago, could reach up to 6 meters high weighing about 1.5 tons.

The alternative to explain the regular configuration of the caves - is also arcana. If were not Megatheriums, the galleries may have been dug by giant armadillos.
(Transcription of the audio-video bellow)

BRAZIL. AMAZON REGION. RONDONIA state. A team from the Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais led by geologist Amilcar Adamy, found - at the region of Ponta do Abunã , the first paleo-burrow located at Brazilian Amazon region.

TRANSCRIPTION OF THE INTERVIEW OF THE GEOLOGIST

Amilcar Adami, in the video:

'We are inside the mysterious cave, in the property of our friend, Aristeu. This cave already is known for some time. Since 2008, at least we know about its existence.

In 2010, we've been here and caught our attention the circular shape of the tunnels, indicating that  they don't result from a natural process.

This research went being developed for four years. Now, in July - 2015, we came here again - already with an established idea about the origin of these formations.

So, this cave, now we know it's a paleo-burrow,  developed, elaborated by extinct animals that could be giant armadillos or giant sloths.

By the shape and the dimensions of the place we believe it was excavated by giant slóths that could reach a ton and a half and up to six miders high.

These sloths become extinct there about ten thousand years. Is not known the cause of this extinction. Maybe climate change, changes in vegetation, but it is not a sure.

The discovery is important for the study of peleo-climate and peleo-fauna that inhabited this whole region.

In Madeira riverbed we met fossils of pre-ristoric animals, including sloths. We were searching to know where they lived and now we know that here, in this cave - they found their natural shelter.

Matamatá, the Jurassic turtle from Brazilian Amazon

PHOTO. Edson Souza

BRAZIL. ACRE state. On Monday, May 11 (2015), the graphic designer Edson Souza, 34 - on a farm near the town of Xapuri, 188 km far from the state capital, Rio Branco, was fishing with net in a local pond - when captured a strange turtle . The animal has a Jurassic aspect. It is a saury-turtle.

The biologist Moisés Barbosa identified the turtle. It is known as "Matamatá" and - despite the exotic appearance, it is a cataloged animal. Its scientific name is Chelus fribriatus, a typical reptile from  Amazon region.

Live in areas of flooded forest and dams, especially at environment where water is dark, standing water, places where there the forest is preserved. It feeds, mainly - eating fishes.

The Matamatá has a carapace full of irregular ripples of rough appearance. Barbosa explained these strange features of Chelus fimbriatus: It is a prehistoric animal that inhabits the planet since between 250 and 300 million years.

It is one of the oldest specimens, which has not modified itself much over the ages. It has a large and wide neck. full of flexible fins.

In water, these fins have an undulating movement what makes them seem algae. This acts as a camouflage allowing fish approach, potential preys for this ancient monster.

The Sea Dragon of Andalusia

SPAIN. THURSDAY, Aug. 15 (2013), the lifeless body of a unidentified marine being, appeared on the sands of Playa Luis Siret - coastal, pueblo of Villaricos, Cuevas del Almanzora, Spanish municipality in the province of Almeria - in Andalucía.

The animal, of fantastic appearance resembling a sea dragon, measuring about four meters long, had advanced signs of decomposition.

A bather, a woman - when faced with the strange creature, reported it by telephone - to the emergency service of Cuevas del Almanzora - which attends by the number 122.

Authorities were mobilized: the Civil Defense PROMAR contacted the Association for the Defense of Nature Navy (Marina Defensa de la Naturaleza) whose representatives, quickly, realized that the animal was... merely ... a whale ... (?!)

Meanwhile, members of the Asociación de la Defense en Fauna Marina Almería, according to its coordinator, Francisco Toledano, went to the place analyze the corpse and compare the creature with the pictures obtained. Toledano said:

We had access to the images of body on sands, probably thrown there by strong waves. The pictures are being sent to experts in an attempt to identify the specimen. At first glance it seems a kind of fish but the state of decomposition makes recognition.

Because of the health risks resulting from exposure of putrefying matter, the Civil Defense decided to bury the carcass.

LET'S REMEMBER - The Giant Piranha of Congo

DALY MAIL/UK, 21 October 2010
JAMES, Richard.
British fisherman grapples with ferocious 'giant piranha'... which has been known to eat Crocodiles

REPUBLIC OF CONGO/África. British angler Jeremy Wade, 52-year-old (2010), captured an exemplar of the called "goliath tigerfish", that has a ferocious-looking, like a giant piranha -  during a fishing expedition along Congo River - Africa.

BRAZIL. Piranhas Attack Humans

Piranhas are a group of carnivorous freshwater fish. Inhabit some rivers of South America They belong to five genera of the subfamily Serrasalminae (which also includes fish such as pacu and the called golden fish).

The word "piranha" is a hybrid term that has its origin  in Tupi-guarani language  may have originated in the composition of the words 'pirá', meaning 'fish' + 'ranha', meaning 'tooth'.  Or - even, it can be originated  'pirá' ('fish') + 'Anha' ('cutter').

It is a fish very voracious predator gifted with very strong jaws. Most piranhas are fast, but usually attack when they are encouraged to do so. Among the numerous species of piranhas, some are cannibals - others, not, but all have aggressive behaviors. Piranhas are close relatives of Pacus and are often confused with them when still small.

Fears of 'Testicle-Eating' Fish Overblown

BITTTEN ON THE FOOT. On a Friday, July 26 (2013), a visitor of the State of Sao Paulo, the young Vitor Rodrigues Baptista, 15 years - was attacked during a walk in the Lagoon. The victim had to be hospitalized.

CEARA state/BRAZIL - In Lagoa do Catu (Catu lagoon), at Aquiraz, metropolitan region of Fortaleza (state capital), a turistic point, attacks of "piranhas brancas" (pirampebas, white pirañas, serrasalmus brandti) are scaring the visitants - making impossible the baths and recreational activities on site.

On a Friday, July 26 (2013), a visitor of the State of Sao Paulo, the young Vitor Rodrigues Baptista, 15 years - was attacked during a walk in the Lagoon. The victim had to be hospitalized.

The attacks in the Lagoa de Catu are been happening since 2009 (even before) and has resulted in significant damage to local tourism.

There some years,  government actions have tried to combat superpopulation of piranhas which presence isn't natural in the environment.

The action of combat to the invasors includes the introduction of a natural predator of piranhas: the tilapias. However, this providence, in these almost four years, don't produced the effect desired. The population of piranhas remains constant and growing.

The Secretary of State for Fisheries and Aquaculture of Ceará, Ricardo Campos, explained that the attacks are occurring due to an imbalance in the food chain.

The pirambebas are predators and, in environment of the lagoon,  they haven't enemies above them in the food chain nor the usual preys that are their food in their natural habitat.

So there is an imbalance: the fishes begin to practice the canibalism and, even, attack human beings to satisfy their hungry for meat.

The pirambeba is not native from that place and came to the pond after a flooding. The pirambeba is native of Ceara, but originally they live in the waters of the Lima Campos reservoir (distant 400 km from Aquiraz).

In 1992, with the construction of the Canal  do Trabalhador (a channel), which function is to conduce the water from the Jaguaribe river to supply the city of Fortaleza - new migration routes were created allowing the invasion of piranhas in watersheds that never before harbored this species.

PIAUI state. The invasion of piranhas is not restricted to freshwaters cearences. In Barragem do Bezerro (Bezerro dam), city of José de Freitas, Piaui state, in a single weekend, were reported around a hundred of attacks of those fishes.

Also at Piauí state, in 2011, the Barragem do Bezerro (Bezerro Dam, ABOVE) received 100,000 tilapia to try to control overpopulation of piranhas.

BELOW: Lagoa do Portinho - Piaui, unauthorized access to bathers.

PARA state. At São Geraldo do Araguaia city, southeast of Pará state (brazilian North Region) - in Praia da Gaivota (Gaivota beach, Araguaia river), swimmers have been victims of attacks by piranhas.

Amid shadows of the stones: piranhas, the little carnivorous monsters of freshwater.

The technician of the health post of the beach, the nurse Danilo Barbosa, succours victims, injured in attacks, every weekend. He himself was a victim of bites and informs: We we attended average 10 to 15 cases of piranhas bites per day.

The cases have been happening there already for 4 years. Only in July this year (2013), 122 swimmers were victims of attacks. According to the firemen, the most cases occurs in a place of the beach where exists a large amount of stones. The biologist Cristina Vieira explains the behavior of the fishes.

Possibly it is breeding season, then they can be protecting their offspring. Another motivation for their massive presence are the food scraps, thrown in the water by marketers and bathers. This attracts small species that are food for the piranhas. By this way, places like this can become a point of concentration for these voracious carnivores of freshwater.

The Fire Department can't ban the entry of the bathers in Praia das Gaivotas, but ensures that guides them about possible attacks piranhas in the river. IBAMA technicians, of the Municipal Environment Secretary are mapping the area to instruct security measures that able to prevent further attacks.

Ophio... The "Zombiezating" Killer Fungus (that turns insects in Zombies)

An ant possessed by the killer fungus. IMAGE: National Geographic.

ANIMAL WORLD. A macabre fungus is transforming some species of ants in real zombies whose final destination is death.

The fungus, whose scientific name is Ophiocordodyceps, after entering into the victim's body, begins acting affecting the central nervous system, causing an abnormal behavior in the insects.

Slowly it grows, spreads occupying other parts of the body even reach the brain of the individual (the ant). At this point in the process of possession, the agent begins to neutralize the vitality of muscles and fibers, to control the mind; to kill.

The head of the infected falls over its neck. The ant is dying but, for some reason that scientists can not explain, the ultimate death happens, only in certain hour of the day: by midday.

After kill its host, the fungus killer emerges from the brain, evading through the orifices of the animal, full of spores, that are its seeds - ready to infect other ants.

Although it has been detected more frequently in ants, the Ophiocordodyceps (summarizing, the Ophio ...) or - the killer fungus, as it is being called, it also attacks bees, flies and crickets.

The Ophio ... the zombie factor of the animal world, is the perfect matrix for the development of a variant that could be used in humans which, incidentally, also belong to the animal world... And, NO. This editor is not suggesting nothing!

The girls were there with relatives and friends. All were swimming in the river when, suddenly, the first girl begun to scream.

Despite the video, there are controversies. The legist doctor, José Henrique Schuman, said no injuries were found on the bodies to confirm the hypothesis of an animal attack, snake or some other creature. Biologist Flavio Vasconcelos did not rule out that the teenagers have been frightened by the presence of an animal. In this case, the panic would have caused the drowning. The bank of river is shallow but the water deepens become few steps forward. After examining the site, firefighters believe that the victims fell into an open ditch in the sand from the river bottom

The case made headlines. Appeared on TV. Given the controversy, the police of Itajuba city considers the possibility of exhuming the bodies of the two teenagers, who were buried without autopsies.

Giant Tortoise in Piauí

PIAUÍ (state), Brazil – Friday, may, day 13, in the first hours of dawn, a giant turtle was spotted in "Pedra do Sal", a beach located on Parnaíba city, Piauí state's shore.

According the biologists of the "Projeto Tartarugas do Delta" (Delta's Turtles Project), the turtle, measuring 1.6 meters long and 2.4 meters wide, belongs to the specie Leatherback sea-turtle (Dermochelys coriacea). Not were found markings or rings of identification in the body of the animal. It means that this turtle is not monitored by none work related to its specie.

A Leatherback sea-turtle can reach thus 2 meters of lenght and weigh arou 500 to 900 kilograms. The byologist Mr. Mario Neto explain that the Delta Project is monitoring the reproductive period on the region since 2007, between the months from December to July.

Among all species of sea turtle, the leatherback sea-turtle has a large geographic distribution, but their spawning is restricted to tropical and subtropical areas. In Brazil, was belived that the state of the Espírito Santo (state) was the only place where regular annual spawning could occur. Eventualy, was possible that the spawns, in aleatory way, could happen in other parts of the Brazilian coast.

However, throughout the study, conducted by "Projeto Tartarugas do Delta", belongs to the NGO - "Comissão Ilha Ativa" from 2007, the presence of the leatherback turtle was confirmed in the Piauí shore in all breeding seasons. This species of turtle is one the most threatened with extinction in Brazil.

🐟 🌊 STRANGE WATER WORLD

MEXICO – In El Desemboque, a little port town of the Mexican state of Sonora, northwestern of the country, fishermen caught a strange animal. Apparently it is a fish, however, seems to be a creature extremely antiga.

The strange fish is monstrous and has a pre-historic appearance. The news says the animal measures 3 meters of lenght but, judging by the photo there is exaggeration in this dimension (or the fisherman holding the animal is endowed with low height). Your weight (of the fish): 70 kilograms.

The fishermen published the photo of the creature on newspapers in the hope of someone, a biologist - perhaps can clarify: what animal is this?
